Manfrotto to Arca Swiss type QR conversions question???
« on: February 07, 2013, 07:31:19 pm »

Hi All

Overall I have been content using Manfrotto with the RC2 QR plates but the Arca Swiss 'type' plates seem so universal what with RRS L adaptors and other ancilliary kit etc I thought I would see if there were any conversion kits and came across this site http://www.hejnarphotostore.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=16_41&zenid=fba9bk2js44qhh0t8lv8uukjf0 who seems to get some good reviews.

So any insight into the question and indeed if the linked manufacturer is a worthy contender or who else I should consider???

TIA :D

Many thanks both for the positive feedback and insight :)

I should have said this will be to modify my 498RC2 ballhead...............surmising that whatever the head so modified all would be well using Canon dSLR bodies and lenses (i.e. mounts on both the body and lenses for use as needed ;)

I have been very happy with Chris Hejnar's products. The Manfrotto 410 geared head A-S conversion kit works splendidly. Rails are good too.

Evening All

Many thanks again for the insights.  However, I have struck one hurdle with that make in that you can only buy direct from him in the States and being UK based our lovely :( 20% VAT (purchase tax) will add significantly to the cost so will have to think carefully about it.

So by way of comparisons any other such adaptors recommended that I could buy in the UK or EU for reasonable monies would be welcome???

TIA :)

I have a Hejnar converted 410 and it is a very elegant and efficient solution, much more so than the Kirk 1 inch clamp attached to the Manfrotto 410PL plate I have fitted to my 405 head.

Hi,

I have the Hejnar adaptor on my now modified Manfrotto 405 Pro geared head, and that works fine with the rest of my RRS accessories. I also got his clamp, and that works fine as well (finishing is not as smooth as an original RRS clamp, but it functions just fine).

Cheers,
Bart
