New NEC and can't calibrate it
« on: February 04, 2013, 09:17:09 AM »

I just bought a new mac mini with OS10.8.2
I had OWC install 16GB memory and a second SSD drive.

Along with the niw mac I purchased the NEC PA241W with the SpectraSensor Pro
NEC site says there is some issue with OSX8.

First off, I guess I'm stuck with that and will have to wait till they have a patch in a new upgrade.

While I am waiting, should I try and use my old Spyder 3?
Hate to be using an uncalibrated monitor :-\

Mac OS 10.8 support

As of Mac OS 10.8.0, support for monitor communications via DDC/CI is not functioning on some Macs, including systems with DVI video outputs, and when using a miniDisplayPort to DVI cable or adapter. NEC is working with Apple to fix this issue in a future Mac OS update. Users with an NEC MultiSync PA series display, or P232W, or P241W should connect a USB cable between the host PC and one of the USB inputs (upstream ports) on the display to provide the necessary monitor communications via USB.

I'm having the same issue - quite frustrating.  I can run spectraview II but I get a message saying the monitor is calibrated but there was an error saving the profile?????

Had the same issue, hooked up USB, fixed.

But the issue was introduced by Apple as prior to the update, my PA ran fine without the cable. Thanks Apple.

OK, now I feel stupid. I did try the USB connection previously, but still no love.
Just unplugged cable on both ends and reconnected, Voila!

Thanks Will.

Make sure you are using a recent version of SpectraView. The latest is 1.1.12.

Mac OS 10.7 and higher no longer allows users to store "shared" ColorSync profiles in the system folders. Therefore the Preferences option to set the ICC Profile storage location is disabled, and "Per user of this computer" will always be used.

If you are still having problems I would recommend checking the file and folder permissions on your system.
