Unable to achieve target brightness in calibration
« on: February 02, 2013, 05:04:51 pm »

My 5+ year old Eizo CG211 is having a an increasingly difficult time of achieving the target brightness level of 90 cd/m2. Today's calibration registered at 75.6 cd/m2. Is this a sign that the monitor needs replacement?

FWIW, I use the monitor for photography but earn my living as a designer. Since I rarely go on press checks any more, I must rely on the accuracy of my monitor before sending files off to a printer.

Thanks!

Sounds like it's going south. I'd try to check this with a different instrument and maybe software package but I'll bet you'd be able to guess if set to max, it's 90cd/2 and lower. If so, time for a new display.

Thanks for the reply. You've confirmed my suspicions. The silver lining is that now I can move up to a 27" screen.

Cheers!

So how long do the CCFL tubes in those non-LED LCD's last, anyway?  I've got 17,000 hours on my 2690Wuxi.  At one time I thought it was doing a swan song, but now it seems to be holding steady at a low error 110 cdm's.

FWIW, I wonder what kind of can of worms this could lead to...
