A Night Shot with a Twist
« on: January 29, 2013, 02:31:07 am »

I realize this is neither nature or landscape, but after discussing with Russ, I thought I would present it anyway. This is a typical cruise ship shot but the twist is this vessel was moving at 15.4 knots in 5-7 foot seas. This is a 3 second exposure, F:/9 ISO 100

Now I see what you were talking about at lunch. Couldn't visualize it then. Wow!

She must be broad, deep and well ballasted...no hint in the pools of what she's cutting through...I can't remember where you posted this earlier...loved the silvered tones then and the way you used WB to not mess with the cruise ambiant lighting. Someone suggested, I'll bet Slobodan as he has the magic touch for these lightings, that you make the cruise line aware of your holdings, especially if you have a few more of these beauties.

Thanks for the kind words. I tried to find this posted here earlier to no success. I did post another of a sunrise shot from a slightly higher angle. I have already sold two of these images to Royal Carribean International and have an option on four more.

That must be the one I saw then...glad there are more and that you have made the contact with Royal C. They're exactly what I imagine they would like the general ambience dreams to be in potential traveler's minds. Nice job!

Quite spectacular! And 3 seconds, hand-held of course.  ;D

It's nice that Royal C has recognized the quality.

Tripod...not even I'm that good...don't reckon anyone is.

RC has a contest as well at the end of each month where you can post images of your experience and win a cruise. I've submitted these to that as well..hey, got to either make a living (not really because I am retired) or have fun...crusing is a lot of fun!

Oh, I've had some pretty sharp 3-second hand-held shots, all with the lens cap on, of course. Funny thing is, I haven't found buyers for any of the resulting prints.   :(

Yours is still an impressive shot. And yes: Fun is where it's at!
