Paper recomendation
« on: January 25, 2013, 04:06:50 am »

I am in the process of buying my Canon ipf6400 and need some advice for suppliers and supplies for the printer

Also looking for some recommendations for paper and canvas for exhibition photographic prints.

Any info would help a s I am fairly new to this side of photographic printing.

Almost all paper makers sell sample packages with 1-2 sheets each of various papers in them. Buy a couple, try them out, and pick one you like.

Also, the Product Reviews section of this website has lots of excellent and informative paper reviews.

My inkjet paper list can be a handy way of finding a paper you like: http://www.danecreekfolios.com/inkjet-paper-list/.

Also search the forum for "favorite paper" or "paper recommendation" and you'll come up with many threads on the subject that have useful information.

Finally, the folks at www.shadesofpaper.com are great to do business with. Call them (rather than ordering from the website) for the best pricing.

I'll echo Neil, and offer that Erik Mateer at Shades of Paper has offered not only very thorough service, but he has brought to my attention new media based upon my previous preferences. The Innova Warm Cotton Gloss is a recent example that of a paper I'd not have know about without Erik's alert.
