Outdoor Photographer of the Year - The Spirit of Adventure
« on: January 22, 2013, 01:05:11 am »

Found out a few days I ago I was not only a finalist but won the 2012 Outdoor Photographer of the Year Award in the Spirit of Adventure Category. The photograph was taken in Antarctica of Mountain climbers nearing the summit in rapidly deteriorating weather. Hard to see on the jpeg but there are two large sea birds right of frame.

Congratulation Josh!

I have always been a fan of your style of imagery.
If I was able I would be on the boat with you to the Arctic later this year.

Great mountaineering image. The geometry of the ridge, the sky and the details are absolutely fantastic, breathtaking.

Congratulations!

Wonderful image (Bradford Washburn class, but in color); but looking over your portfolio, can just say you have an extraordinary body of work! What a feast for the eyes and soul.

Nice work. I like the naturally high-key environment you caught.

I will now do the unthinkable and ask: what sort of gear and setup were you using.  I am less concerned from a "This-is-better-than-that" point of view. I am interested in what and how much gear you are carrying into these challenging environments.

If you check the link to his blog, there's details of the camera/lens set-up used

good point. I rarely click through to individual sites and articles...perhaps a bad habit.

Based on your web site, I would say that award was given to a very worthy photographer!  You have a consistent talent for evoking something special out of your imagery.  Congratulations!
