Nope, just testing. There may be a color issue with attachment images, I'm using this thread for testing purposes. Plz ignore, tx.

Okay, sorry for the bump, but I think we found something.

When I click an attached thumbnail, they sometimes open in a new window. Probably depending on size.

It appears that using Safari on Mac, the image is then sometimes incorrectly interpreted. One particular example shows a rather extensive EXIF data with the colorspace set to "uncalibrated", even though the image has an Adobe RGB profile attached. When the profile is properly honored, the image looks fine. Apparently the EXIF data takes precedence over the attached profile when viewing in a new window (using Safari on Mac).

See this post for an example

Would appreciate it if other people could double check this, thx.

No problems with Safari 5.1.7 on OS 10.6.8.

The thumbnails of your last 3 images of the landscape look the same as the full size although the middle one looks a bit over saturated with a tint of magenta hue shift in warm colors. I dragged and dropped all three full sized versions to my desktop and ran Apple's Colorysync Script "Show Profile Info" and the last entry shows sRGB as the embedded profile on all three.

Added note: All three images have pertinent EXIF data stripped except the sRGB profile.

No, refer to the post linked here:

The Hobson Panorama image. If I open that up it shows exactly like having Prophoto RGB attached…
(Cyanish clipped skies, and very red dry grass).

Picture #1 (top) diifers. #2 and #3 similar.

The thumbnails do not appear to be colormanaged, which is the problem here.

But I am not referring to the images in this thread. Instead look at the Hobson Panorama image in the post linked here:

Ok, I looked (on Mac 10.6.8., Safari), but what am I supposed to compare it to? I do not see "cyanish clipped skies, and very red dry grass" either.

It would be immediately obvious if it happens. I see it when I click the image thumbnail and it opens up in a new window. It is totally out-of-whack. (Mac OS X 10.8.2, Safari 6.0.2).

Attached is a comparison, top is the image in safari, bottom is properly colormanaged.

When I click on the image and it opens up in a new window, it looks like the one on the bottom of your comparison (i.e., looks like properly color managed).

P.S. My versions are 10.6.8 and 5.1.7 for Safari

Same here with panorama shot as indicated by Slobodan.

Not familiar with your Mac OS version but you might check to see if Safari or some OS Preference setting has color management policies that may or may not expect or default to some profile that's chosen when the image data isn't written to sRGB. Maybe it's assigning your wide gamut display profile or some other color transform preference. Not sure.

Oscar, I finally saw what you are talking about, but in another thread. You may want to check it, as it contains a possible (and likely) explanation.

No, that is just the thumbnail not being colormanaged as already noted above.

Okay, now you have me worried.

This would isolate the issue to something on my system.

My monitor profile is near sRGB-ish, so that doesn't explain the ProPhotoRGB look.

Changing the monitor profile to the sRGB profile still exhibits the issue.

Safari build = (8536.26.17), enable/disable WebGL and cleaning caches makes no difference.

Well, that's odd. If i force the image to open in a new tab instead of a new window then the image initially looks reasonable, but as soon as I zoom in or hit refresh in the tab, it goes south.

I noticed previously that there is a distinct render difference half way in the image, see attached. I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is the size of the image in combination with the graphics card. (NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB).
