I concur with Mark's comments.  I push the paper down until I hear the click, and it also feels like you've hit a wall with the paper and it can't go any further.  I press the down arrow and very rarely get a skew problem... maybe twice in over a year - usually when I'm in a hurry and be careless with the hand feeding.

I haven't had a single instance of paper skew in over a year, not since I learned this trick of pushing the sheet down hard, until I heard the click. Seems to snap it right into place.
