PK Sharpener freezing up
« on: January 03, 2013, 09:57:04 am »

When applying output sharpenining in CS5, PK Sharpener gets hung up creating the preview image. Instead of appearing almost instantly, it appears very slowly, block by block, and takes a long time berfore I end up cancelling it. CPU usage is very low while this is happening. My images are not all that huge, perhaps 24 megapixels at 32 bits. I hyave tried the usual fixes - restart CS5, reboot - the problem persists. Any ideas?

But have you actually contacted PG Tech Support?

You don't mention what version of PKS, the most recent version is available at the PG web site. You also don't mention exactly what version of Photoshop. Those kinda things are important to troubleshooting...

CS 5.1, PKS 2.0. Does this help?

No...you need to be sure you are using PKS 2.0.7 which is available at the PG Downloads page.

PKS II is up to version 2.0.7. Sounds like you need to update.

Try trashing your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. That usually fixes a crashing Photoshop!
