Unbalanced

Does moving the red to the left make a real difference (by the way, this was not intended as history, but for next year's Christmas Card).

Moving the red to the left makes a more balanced effect. However I wonder what the person was doing walking in the snow rather than on the easier road. Maybe one is better for whatever season's message you'll have on the card?

I would move it only so slightly to the... right, for the following reasons:

- classical compositional rules do not work exactly the same for panoramics, thus attempting to place it closer to the third doesn't not produce the usual, beneficial effect. By the same token, moving it to the right wouldn't hurt either

- car tracks serve as leading-in lines for the red guy, and you want to preserve that

- trees seem to grow right out of his head in the original version, thus the suggestion to move it slightly to the right

I agree with the suggestion of a slight move to the right, and also suggest considering removal of all colour from the trees.

Image IIb is a good staring point for me.  I'd certainly be curious to see what removing colour from the woods might look like.

Thank you all (or y'all since I'm in North Carolina) for your time and comments.  I'll incorporate them in the next version.

Thanks again,
Dale

Dogs sometimes wander according to scents.  What I wonder is how the hell they got there without making tracks
