MyEpsonPrinter.com No Longer Exists
« on: December 12, 2012, 06:53:32 pm »

Any insight why Epson did away with this service? Any replacement for calculating detailed ink usage, other the the front panel's Menu>Test Print>Menu>Job Information>Print sequence (lists only last 10 jobs)?

I failed to note that Dec 17th is the date of deactivation of the service: "In order to dedicate more focus upon providing industry-transforming professional imaging products, we have made the decision to discontinue the beta program for MyEpsonPrinter.com by December 17, 2012. As of that date, we will no longer be offering the service. For those accounts that have been involved in this beta program, we very much appreciate the input that you have provided Epson. Instructions on deactivating your printer are available in the PDF link below.."

Speaking today with Epson tech support, they seems to regret the demise of the service having seen it as a good thing.

No question. Any ideas on an alternate program for ink usage calculation?

I think there is a way to see ink consumption directly in the printer menu interface but it's very basic. I'm on the road right now, and won't be able to check until tomorrow.

Yes, the Front Panel allows the most recent 10 prints to be seen:

Menu>Test Print>Menu>Job Information>Print

John,
When you get the message to replace the carts because the ink has run, out you'll then know how much ink you have used.DOH

Ok ,I'm a wise guy.
Just average it out over a period of time according to the stats in the printer on the actual square footage of paper and ML of ink.  Or overall paper (media), to how many carts you've replaced, kinda like figuring your gas milage.
Once you have an average it doesn't really change.
I think it is really nitpicking to try and figure out the xact amount of ink used on each and every print!

Ernest, THANK YOU for an entertaining (and appropriate) left turn on this thread. As the Captain once said, "Woe-is-uh-me bop".

What about MyEpsonPrinter.EU (The European Union variant)? It seems to still be up. Can I register my printer at that site and somehow get my firmware to upload to it? I am in the US.

Which printer do you have?

Epson United Kingdom has Job Monitor Software for the Epson 7900 and 9900.   "Job Monitor {1.1a} 07-Dec-2010 2.34MBs "

It works like the Job Monitor Software for the Epson 3800.

The only problem with the software is that it must be told by the user to get the information from the Epson 7900,9900.  If this is not done between every 10 print jobs(print job buffer size in printer),  the information will be lost.  When the information is extracted it stores it in a database file, which can be exported to Excel.

I have a 7900. That sounds perfect. Checking for a Mac version. Thanks.

Update: Ah nooo... Windows only. Perhaps it will work under Wine.
