Dirty Epson Enhanced Matte
« on: December 11, 2012, 02:09:24 pm »

Hello!

I have a problem with recent order from Epson. There is a lot of black spots in the paper, sometimes black fibers that makes it's ridiculous to print photobooks.
It's not on the surface. Its inside the fibers. I can get it out only with scalpel which results in damaging the paper.

Here is how it looks

Video unwinding the roll (sorry, in Polish but you get the idea) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maqSUsKk5Vo

Anyone had this experience with EEM? What would be the return policy if I used this paper for already and getting into a lot of wasted ink?
To print a good 12x24" I need to print 2-3 times sometimes!!

Roll batch ID's 02FF4004M01, 02KB4002M01

Personally haven't seen anything like this on the enhanced matte. I noticed your pictures are all post-print though so it's hard to judge by that. These fibers are actually within the paper prior to printing?

Yes, it's inside the paper.

I've ordered 4 new rolls. Different batch - hope it's ok. And I hope that epson will make up for it ...

Don't tell us... tell Epson if it bothers you that much!
There may be an occasional bad batch. All paper producers have  a marginal acceptace for a percentage of stray fibers.
Even the FDA in the US allows a % of rat hairs in Hot Dogs  :o
They will indeed replace any defective product!
