Ilford Confabulation - Epson 3800 Paper Setting?
« on: December 02, 2012, 01:48:14 pm »

I'm using an Epson Stylus Pro 3800, printing on Ilford Galerie Gold Fiber Silk.

What paper type should I select in the printer driver?

In the past when printing on Ilford Galerie Gold Fiber Silk I've used:

1. Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster

2. Exhibition Fiber

I've used #1 the most and #2 infrequently and don't have a good impression of which was best.

A further complication is the Ilford www site recommends:

3. Premium Photo Paper Semi-gloss

Thanks,
Rasterdogs

This printing thing is hard and not exactly clearly specified    :(

I have always used Premium Semigloss Photo Paper (250) and I've been happy with the result. I haven't compared it any other settings.

You should use the setting that was used when printing the targets for the profile you are using.  If you are using Ilfords profiles, then use the paper setting they recommend with the profile.
