WSJ reviews Neil Folberg Leaf images
« on: November 17, 2012, 03:44:01 pm »

Hello,

A small review of my newest images - which mentions my Leaf and it's incredible depth and resolution -  appeared today in the Wall Street Journal U.S. Edition, which is attached. (I am using the Aptus 12 back on the Leaf Afi-ii).

Here is the link: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324556304578119042245904044.html?mod=WSJ_LifeStyle_Lifestyle_5
The review is of my latest exhibition, titled "Topography/Time/Israel" which will remain up through December 15, 2012 at Flomenhaft Gallery in New York.

For those unable to access the WSJ, I have attached a copy of the article.

I am pleased also to annouce the imminent publication of my work from a couple years ago, "Serpent's Chronicle" - also photographed with Leaf equipment - which is scheduled for Spring publication by Abbeville Press, New York in three editions: book, digital iBook for iPad, and Special Edition Folio with an original print. Note: electronic and print editions plus a fine art limited edition published all at once. I am hoping that this is a viable approach to publishing.

Many of you are watching with concern events here in Israel and I can't say anything from my own experience about the situation in the South, but in the North where we live, it is very quiet. I will be in Jerusalem in my gallery this coming week.  We hope that the situation will remain calm and that the residents of the South in particular will soon be able to lead normal lives without the threat of missiles and that no further harm will come to anyone. I hope you are all well!

Best wishes to all,
Neil

I love the bottom photo.Spectacular. I like how the ledge you are standing on blends into the valley below.
It gives the image a strange and interesting depth.
Reminds me of landscapes I saw in Nevada when cross country dirt biking. On designated trails ;)

I think you might like this image shot at Turtle Beach Oahu. The textures of both land, water and sky there are very special
if your trips ever take you there:

I have shot fashion and beauty there.... there is something special about the light there. The dark textured rocks and the reflection of the
churning white water. I was even there for a fashion shoot when it was heavily overcast ... the light was still very special.

Congratulations on the exhibition and be safe in Jerusalem

Fred, You are so right about the light - it is so gentle and mysterious in the B&W fashion photo. These days when I go out I hope for overcast skies like that. That is a very beautiful and elegant image.

Many thanks, Neil
