Yes they are very flat and have lots of detail if exposed properly and are just wonderful to work with because there are some many possibilities and room for personal interpretation.

This was such a bold move by Leica and I applaud them for this amazing B&W camera. THere are so many DSLRs out there that are trying be be the one size fits all and I for one do not like the direction that the big 2 are moving in. I hope that Leica comes out with a new M-E with the new CMOS in it. If they do I will be all over that and dump my Canon gear and completely move over to Leica even for my professional work. Probably to M-Es if thats indeed what happens. And I doubt I will even dump my MM as long as it can be repaired if it ever breaks down.

I think the MM is their best camera since the M6.  I had an M6 for 21 years.  The best camera I ever owned.

I shot years ago with an M4 and totally fell in love with the shooting experience of a rangefinder. I always loved shooting with my 500 C/Ms and my old Canon F-1s to a lesser extent but I was never really crazy about my DSLRs. I mean it was just bllaaaaahhh. With my MM I'm in love again with the experience. Its like the camera is not there. It totally gets out of my way and lets me get the images I am seeing in my head. Now whether that a good thing or not is an entirely different conversation (LoL) but I clearly can't blame the equipment for not getting me what I see because this camera, for me, gets outta the way and lets me get what I am seeing.

Not to wander off too far: for me, it was the F2 Photomic whose more rounded edges made it that bit more comfortable to hold for hours on end than the classic F I ran alongside it.

The 500s were nice, too, but on tripods!

One thing I really like is the high ISO of the MM. Heres a crappy photograph I just shot a few minutes ago at 10,000 ISO. No noise reduction.

Still 2 customers waiting before me !!

It is not right how Leica has plenty of stock in their own stores and let their Leica dealers / customers wait !

Grrrr......

Allen,

I can understand this in the beginning, when production is starting up.

But, now, every f.... Leica store in the US / EU has one, ready to sell, but the dealers have to wait for years.

This is not right.

What's right got to do with it? This is business, something folks tend to forget in the middle of a faux love affair; it's about making money.

But look at it this way: they are making you get a hotter set of hots for it; it'll be a higher high when it comes. Reminds me of the Beatles.

If you want is so badly why not buy it from a Leica store, then?

Rob,

It is bad business practice. You can never cover the globe with Leica stores alone. So you better treat your dealers as partners.

My point of view.

Thanks so much for asking. Big success. The manager said it was the largest turnout that they had ever had for an opening. Don't know if he was just being nice but the gallery was full.

Just ordered my Mono today.
Always wanted a Leica. One more thing off the photography bucket list.
