No idea about that plant's or classification. We need Mike on that!
I like the photo, it shows the harsh condition in the desertic regions. The "fat" and alive plant vs the other is a bit like Laurel vs Hardy…

I like the photo a lot. It looks like somewhere in the U.S. Southwest?
