Anyone tried an Epson 7600UC printer with Win 8 Pro yet?
« on: October 25, 2012, 12:05:18 pm »

Just wondering if I will be able to use the last E7600 driver on Win 8 or if any built-in driver is adequate for photo printing. If I can't upgrade my Photo WS, I probably won't upgrade any of my PC's.

Thanks!

Lloyd, sorry I have not Windows but I use a 9600 with the newest driver on the newest Mac OS. I think then it would also work with Windows. Hopefully...:)

Epson has stupidly decided to abandon Epson 7600 owners with regard to Windows 8. They say they will have 9600 drivers, but don't hold your breath. They also had announced 7600 Win 8 drivers as being forthcoming on their site for 3 weeks and then reneged. This is an outrage for a professional printer.

Fortunately, I have found a workaround. There is a RIP in beta right now for Windows called PrintFab (www.printfab.net). The beta is free until at least June 2013. It installs and runs fine under Win 8 x64 and supports the 7600 among many other printers. FYI, for any of you stranded Windows Epson 7600 owners.

If you are like me, you will give a good hard look at Canon and HP when it comes time to replace your printer.
