Can i1Photo Pro 2 software show the measured spectrum
« on: October 18, 2012, 04:17:44 pm »

Hi,

in the old times there was the program i1share by Gretag Macbeth. With this program it was possible to save the 30 values of the spectrum you measured with the iOne Pro. Is this possible with the new offering by X-Rite "iPhoto Pro 2" too? Thank you.

Best,
Johannes

Yes, actually the i1 Photo Pro 2 can save 36 values of the measured wavelengths of spectrum measurements, from 380nm to 730nm in 10nm increments.  If you need to get those values for yourself, one of the easiest ways would probably be to save the measurements in a Custom CGATS text file - where you can tell it to write the spectrum data, in addition to any other form you need like LAB/etc.

The readings and visual graphics in i1Share were pretty cool weren't they? XRite doesn't offer anything like that today. IMO, the closest thing is what XRIte's ColorPort utility gives you in the measurement status area. Click on the "i" in the measurement status area and cycle though Colorimetric, Spectral and Density readings. As darlingm mentioned, you can save a CGATS file from ColorPort as well and analyze the numbers as well.

ArgyllCMS has a utility called spotread that's pretty handy for this. It will print out the values or graph them. It comes with lots of options. It has a command line interface, which is off-putting to some, but it's easy if you get past that. More: http://www.argyllcms.com/doc/spotread.html
