What happened to Gilde panoramic cameras?
« on: October 15, 2012, 07:16:28 AM »

Just wondering, their(his) website isn't active anymore, but after looking at the other options for a panoramic camera with movements, his looks like the best option out there for a tripod-based system.

Any ideas on if he's still around in some capacity, or has he disappeared from the market altogether?

well upon looking at an old version of the Gilde website, courtesy of the "wayback machine", it looks like Badger Graphic was at one time listed as a distributor.

So I just got off the phone with them, they stated that apparently he closed up shop 4-5yrs ago. Stated that his cameras were "very expensive"(duh ;)...), but very high quality... And they've NEVER seen one on the 2nd hand market...

Well the quest continues!

Does anyone know someone who might own one? Preferably in the vicinity of southern California? I'd really like to look at this camera in detail...

would love to know what you find. Seemed like a very cool camera system which I might have picked up for its unique versatility if they still made them..

We have a Gilde Panoramic camera that we want to sell.  We live  in Germany, but will be in Southern CA, for 2 weeks the end of December 2013.  We could bring it if anyone is interested.  Dr. Gilde built this camera for my husband.

No idea. That was/is the first one I've seen for sale since I first found out about them in 2008.
