The man made Lake at Riano, Castile and Leon region, Northern Spain. There were threats to flood the valley and submerge the town here for most of the 20th century, for years there was much opposition to the plan. Finally in 1987 the inevitable happened and the old village was lost beneath the waters of the new Lake Riano. A new village was built at a higher elevation, but it lacks any real character, despite being the gateway to the Picos de Europa mountain range to the north.
