Converting Filmstrip: LR4 reports all images f22?

I've just noticed something peculiar. Almost all of my images from my 1DS MKIII using xmp files report in LR4 at f16-22. This is even before updating the filmstrip. The problem is that I NEVER shoot f16+ and never, ever f22. I just have no need for that sort of image quality trade-off between DoF and the airy circle.

So what gives?
