macbook pro retina performance issue
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:06:28 am »

Hi I wanted to ask the people who own the new retina about their experience about performance when using PS, lightroom etc.

In early tests, people reported massive performance drops, when running the retina in full resolution mode.
So does it at all effect your workflow when editing pictures? I don't mind video editing.

Best regards

I have the new MacBook pro retina with max ram, I had been doing my image processing with a 2.7 dual quad core Mac pro with 16 gig of ram.

All I can say is this machine is unbelievable! I'm an 8x10 film guy and my scans are all 1 gig in size or better. My Mac pro had been seriously bogging down when processing large images, cs6 improved performance some but not enough. This new machine gobbles up large files. There are no performance issues, it is so fast 2 gig files seem like you are working on a little jpeg. The solid state HD and new processor are a fierce combination.

My only complaint is my dell 3000 monitor won't play nice with the new MacBook. I had to break down and buy the new thunderbolt display yesterday.
