I took this image into CS6 and checked the white balance which I knew was already leaning way too much to the red side and made what I thinik is a reasonable adjustment. Nice pose and mood, just needs some color balancing.

Given the title of the post I feel that the first image far better reflects the sentiment of the title.  It isn't ever about the numbers when it comes to 'expression'.  And the altered version has gone too far to the yellow in my opinion.

cheers,

If its a red lab then I've gone too far, but if a golden lab, probably right on. It's always a matter of opinion and taste. Either or, it's a right nice puppy.

Exactly, Chris. If Rej wants a red dog, let him have one.

No, that's not what I'm suggesting. I'd hate to see people stop making visual recommendations. It's one of the most useful things about User Critiques. But the OP evidently wants his dog to be red. So be it. (Though I agree with you. I'll bet the dog was golden.)

thanks for comments guys ;)

he is golden :)

chrisc, i agree that your edit is more realistic, in terms of white balance etc, i went for this soft/red dreamy look (at least i think) on purpose,  i did some split toning, softened the shadows, clarity etc so i can get a mood that reflect his afternoon nap and his dreaming of dinner :)
ofcourse i had done some strong post-processing before with him as subject like:

sunny bak by rejven, on Flickr

this could be too golden haha

but i figured, he is such a soft creature, i should present that from now on :)

now when i look at it, i think its little underexposed :c

cheers and sorry for not so great english ;)

English is just fine. It's a difficult language even for those of us who call it our native language. Like I stated earlier, it's always a matter of taste and playing with a lot of unknowns. He's a pretty dog and he can be whatever color or tone you want him to be.

And he's definitely not thinking about 'dinner'; he's thinking of the same thing that all of us guys think about 90% (more as we get older - less opportunities!) of the time. Of course, cars.

The first image conveys a restive sense and is nicely done.

The 2nd is of course technically good, but it destroys the mood.

Change, perhaps, but destroy...not in the least, though I agree with Russ, if he wants a redder mood, then that's what he should have. I'd bet you money, marbles and chalk if both images were presented in a different forum, side by side, no title or explanation and the audience was asked to pick a fav, it would be close to a 50/50 split.

I'm wrestling with a Z6200PS printer right now, and appreciate the warm smile this brought to me.
