The reflection and the color of the water are truly gorgeous. On top of that, add the warm light glow on the mountain faces and an interesting sky.

Outstanding!

Yup, that water came from a glacier - no question - what a blue!
Beautiful image.

Absolutely beautiful shot.

I would be curious as to what type of camera and lens combo you were using ?

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words all. I've had a couple of requests for prints so far which is good, I think printed on metallic that water will just look incredible.

In regards to the question about my gear, this was shot on a 5D Mark II and 17-40. At about 23-24mm I believe.

Sure did! The main source of water for this lake is not in fact from the glaciers in the mountains as you would assume, it comes from a huge glacier covered by dirt that you can see part of beneath the large rockface, about 2/3 to the right of the photo. It extends for hundreds of feet to the right behind those trees through a valley. We actually took a hike around there, and the glacier is covered in dirt the whole way around, though little patches of dark blue can be seen in a few spots  :)

You can actually JUST make out a white spot at the back right of the lake, which is a series of small waterfalls coming from the glacier's melt.

Thank you for the Camera/Lens info.

Shows what they can do in the hands of a skilled Photgrapher.

Awesome.

Very nicely done.

It could be due to the scale of the image, but the forest on the right might be just a tad dark. But it's a superb capture and production by any reasonable criteria.

Beautiful. When I was there this summer we couldn't even see Deltaform. This photo is better than actually being there.

Way to brave the hoards of tourists and get the shot.

Damn! Sorry to hear that. I actually stayed at Moraine Lake Lodge for 2 nights, and spent another 2 close-by, so I was around Moraine Lake plenty enough to get the right conditions luckily enough.

We were just taking a psychological break out there for a couple of days. We had climbed the E. Ridge of Edith Cavell and Skyladder on Andromeda over the course of three days. We were feeling a little fried and the short fun climbs around Louise beckoned. The weather may not have been the best there, but it was cooperative for the important climbs. That's what really matters.

We ended up staying in a parking lot at the trailhead for the North Face of Temple. At least the price was right.

Haha can't beat that price! We did the Temple hike, hardly trail.. just a small beaten tracks covered in trees. Super fun :) We kind of got buddy buddy with one of the guides at Moraine Lake and he mentioned it was one of his favorite hikes, so he took us there which was super awesome of him as we didn't have the numbers (4 min because of grizzlies). Edith Cavell is stunning, bet the view was incredible up there!
