Japan, Kanazawa
« on: September 18, 2012, 09:57:45 am »

A great city with nicely preserved bits of old Japan!

All shot hand held with D800, 85mm f1.4 AF-S and 24mm f1.4 AF-S. The D800 is often described as a landscaper's camera, but it performs incredibly in such situations as well, mostly thanks to the remarkable implementation of Auto-ISO. I see auto ISO as the most important feature of the camera for non tripod shooting situations, ahead of DR and resolution.

Nice set as usual, Bernard. But I don't think it's the camera, it's the photographer.

Cheers,

Eric

Nice set as usual, Bernard. But I don't think it's the camera, it's the photographer.

Thanks Eric.

Sure, but equipment is potentially putting some obstacles in the way of the perfect fulfillment of a photographic vision.

Nowadays, I can basically say that 100% of my non keepers are the result of my own mistakes in terms of composition, timing, camera manipulation, wrong locale,...

That used not to be the case. There was a time when I did feel limited by equipment.

Cheers,
Bernard

Those are really great. I love the bokeh around the maple tree. The first two photos feel very Japanese.
