Someone must have liked the design for this camera.  The Blad folks must have research and focus groups for this sort of thing. It does look like the designer(s) were  having a  Lost in Space marathon (1965-68 TV series) when they designed it.

Every month or so when I'm in a Best Buy I see the Nex cameras and laugh out loud at how ridiculous and dysfunctional I find them and yet people buy them. Granted cheap comedy is an easier sell than expensive comedy. Obviously designing for mass market consumption  is not my forte.

Are fingerprints really any worse than nose prints?

No nose prints on my screen... I have two eyes... one on the left side and one on the right side.
I turn my head just a bit to the side for comfort anyway.

This guy might have a problem though...

That said my main camera has a proper eyepiece..... the type DPs like...

I see that Hasselblad is doing some damage control. I saw this on the lensrentals.com site, pretty funny....

Indeed.  Thanks for the link.

Now as for nose prints, all cameras are designed to be held to the right eye.  That's not how my face is wired.  I suspect the camera is easier to re-wire, but apparently no manufacturers think so.

So, today I've been to the photokina. The Hasselblad booth was gargantuan and they were handing out totes and advertisement brochures to every man and his dog. The whole thing was completely over the top. Looked more like Tiffany's on 5th ave.
But at least they were more or less straight about their aims. I talked to a rep and it went like this: "So is this Camera Hasselblads attempt to tap new markets in China and the Middle East?", "Yes, one could put it like this.", "Can we expect a Hasselblad RX1 in the near future?", "Cannot comment on that."
