Looking for suggestions for a good photo browser
« on: September 10, 2012, 12:24:42 pm »

I am looking for a new photo browser for a Mac. I'm sure there must be many good, inexpensive browsers out there that will allow you the freedom to import and organize your images in any way that you chose. I am tired of the limited functionality of the Finder program and I won't allow programs like Aperture to reorganize my photo directories (year/location/event). Any suggestions?

Lightroom will allow you to import any organize in any way that you want. I just told someone else something similar two days ago on this forum.

Picasa
digiKam

And if you in general feel that Finder is too simplistic to meet your needs, give PathFinder or ForkLift a try. PathFinder was the major reason I have been able to stand using a Mac (instead of Linux). In fact, now I wish I could find a file browser similar in features to PathFinder for Linux (my primary OS). Using Finder for managing large numbers of files in complex hierarchies is like trying to demolish a tall building using but a single hammer.
