Prompted me to reach for the ibrik and do a brew.

What a shame you cropped off the delightful art deco man fromn the can.

Nevertheless you have captured the thick lucious texture admirably.

Appealing for a sleepy morning. Am I mistaken that your focus is not on the coffee surface but on the plate/ the can?

Yes, that was my first snapshot on this subject and the AF did not really help. After the two coffees I tried to improve it.

Maybe here some reflections are distracting?

BTW, I could not sleep that day!!  :D

I much prefer the second image as it conveys more atmosphere.
The reflection lower right is maybe a little bright, but not intrusive.

Sorry to be the cloud; I don't though, think it works at all in black/white. The contents of the cup look like mud or tar, not in the least like Turkish coffee which I have enjoyed, even if only in Kyrenia and not in the homeland of the invader.

In colour, I think it might work very well. If you have it, why not show it?

I prefer the color by a lot, in the bw if you don't see the title (or the writing on the cup) it could be anything but coffee.

Glad I suggested you show colour: the lower shot is, for me, the better of the two, and very nice indeed! Wonderful look to the containers, too.
