Took this one in Febuary never really looked at it until now.

I like the effect, Scott, but I think there's just a bit too much of the sand.

I agree.  Wonderful effect, great sky, but the foreground dominates a bit too much.

A square crop would reduce the sand portion.
I like it as it is but it's true that sand dominates this photo.

Like that... I think the motion and subtle colours work well,have you looked at a square crop?

Gave the square crop a go just now, quite like it.
Still not sure if i prefer it over the original though.

I prefer the original, the sand is covered with lines leading towards the water so I don't feel its dominance that much.

For me the square is much more powerful. It brings the weight of the other two major elements, the sky and the ocean, more into balance. The rush of the surf back to its origin is accentuated.

I prefer the original too - the lines are a great lead in...
