Agfa Brovira 111

Hello all,

Most of my personal images that were for exhibition, in the analog days, were printed on Agfa Brovira 111.  They were selenium toned air dried on racks. 

I have a HP Z3100 printer and have been looking for a paper that matches the above in tonality and surface.  For those of you who have had experience with this paper can you recommend what you feel the closest equivalent paper there is today to the Brovira.  Many thanks,

This might be off topic since I'm going to introduce you a method that a Z3100 won't be able to do.

You can use Epson series printer with Piezography K7 Selenium ink and Jon Cone Type 5 paper.
This combination will get the look and feel of Agfa Brovia.
You can go to inkjetmall.com and try their print service with this combination to see the result.
If you like it, you can ask them to print it for you rather than get a mess by yourself.

Help!! Matching surface of wet process old school Agfa 111 paper

What I contributed there but with glazing in mind:

IFA49 may be closer to the original white of the Brovira than other
fiber papers. Moab Colorado Fiber Gloss is similar and so is
(Mitsubishi) Pictorico Pro B&W Baryta Paper Glos GKG 330 gsm which is
also the heaviest of the three. Pictorico is also sold as Gekko in other parts of the world.

The (USA) Canon Heavyweight Glossy Photographic Paper 300 gsm is an RC
paper but the Satin version tested very good at Aardenburg-Imaging. The
gloss comes closer to the Brovira hot glazed.

All have some OBA content. So did Brovira in my opinion.<<

The color tone of selenium should not be a problem with the Z3100. Air dried gloss surface is most likely the toughest thing to achieve. You can try with different gloss enhancer quantities or leave that out totally and find a good spray varnish.


BTW, any chance I can pick up some sheets of Jon Cone Type 5 at a Photokina booth mid September?
