Boulder and Tree
« on: August 29, 2012, 12:11:31 pm »

It's funny how you come back to things years later and can actually see the image.  This one was taken in March of 2009.  At the time I couldn't make sense of it.  Today, I like it a lot. I even thrashed about cropping this pano, and it might be tighter if I did, but I gave up and I am showing it like I saw it on that day--wide.

It looks composed to me.  I like the near symmetry; just because you could cut in haft doesn't mean you have to.  The space is inviting in the middle and the tonality very pleasant on the left.

I am struck by the contrasting textures ... soil, rock, leaves, trees. Engaging. Good composition. I might try getting the boulder bigger .... you probably did already.
