Kodak exits consumer/still photography (film and paper)
« on: August 24, 2012, 03:46:54 pm »

The latest news from Kodak:
http://www.kodak.com/ek/US/en/Kodak_Takes_Next_Steps_toward_Successful_Emergence.htm
In particular, Kodak is selling its Personalized Imaging division, which makes and sells consumer films (including professional ones) and printing supplies. The only film production it is keeping is movie film and technical stuff for aerial photography and the like.

Apparently, Kodak thinks that the key to its comeback is ink-ket printers.

Yup, but not the type of inkjet printers one would associate with the name inkjet....

Kodak makes ultra high speed industrial ink jet printing systems that spit out bound books and magazines.

Not something that would fit in your living room...

Yes, it seems that Kodak considers its commercial printing as a core business, but not its consumer inkjet line or movie film. However it does seem to be keeping the consumer inkjet business and movie film assets ... for now. There is some good reporting on the website of Kodak's hometown paper:
