There seems to be esthetic in chaos, after all.

Interesting shot, Jennifer. The only problem with backstage shots is that it exposes all the wires that produce magic.

Wonderfully realised glimpse beneath the magicians cloak.

I lived over the road from the Palais in 1974 and saw Barry Humphries perform there - amongst others.

Then, do I assume this theatre isn't a cultural outpost on a remote Scottish island? For a moment there was a stirring of hope beating in my breast, a stirring now about to be stilled?

Sadly for you, it's the Antipodean St Kilda.  I grew up backstage: performing from very early age, studying musical theatre, working in radio, performing pretty much all the time.  This is the view I feel most comfortable with.  Being in front of the stage always left me feeling I was missing the real show.

You know something, Jennifer? I think you have just explained your empathy with shooting people in unposed situations.

Good for you!
