Don't Think You Are A Photographer...
« on: August 14, 2012, 05:46:45 pm »

Found it in the Washington DC's Newseum:

On a related note, my teenage daughter deactivated her Facebook account in favor of Instagram. Apparently, kids do not flock to FB as they used to. Another MySpace in the making?

Bill, nothing makes 'you' a photographer, either 'you' are or 'you' are not. (I specifically am not referring to you, personally!)

Do a quantum leap over to 'Critque' and the 'For Rob's eyes' thread and see Ansel Adams' view on this precise point in my reply to Walter's post.

Facebook owns instagram. It was bought for more money than Audi paid for Ducati. instagram is more about memories than photography.

Equipment is a tool, not a way to label yourself (or someone else).

Equipment is both tool and label. Did you imagine red dots were accidental? They are for the sake of those unfamiliar with our form of writing. Instant identifiers and signifiers beyond words.

Equipment is equipment. The red dot is branding applied to the camera. Red dots usually stay extremely hot after the camera gets emblazoned, and those who touch that equipment usually become branded themselves. ;)

You mean, as in a marriage?
