Epson 11880 print head replacement
« on: August 14, 2012, 07:59:15 am »

I've just been quoted 3.3K USD for the Epson 11880 F179000 print head and pump cap assembly replacement. Does the amount sound reasonable to you guys?
Reason for the replacement is that my matte black nozzles are totally screwed and I cant make a decent print no matter how I tried to clean it.

The bad thing about Epson printers is that it will cost you after the warranty expires for replacing the print heads.  There are Epson service centers that you can check out if out of the warranty.

You can also change the country if needed if outside the US.  Other service centers may also give different pricing.  The price seems about right, but depending on if it will be OEM or 3rd party.  I've checked with our tech on this, and it sounds about right for the price including labor cost, etc.

Yea the repairs are horribly expensive. But i guess there's no way around it.  :-X
I'm one who would try to fix things myself but when work is piling up and exhibitions' deadlines are looming closer, this is not something i'd dare to DIY.

Where are you?  New 11880's are down to less than $7,000 in the US.  In the long run you might get more prints per dollar by just replacing the whole thing.

I'm in Singapore now. It still costs about S$15k here which is about USD$12k. The prices here are crap compared to the US. Everything here is so expensive.  :(
