Croatia Locations
« on: August 10, 2012, 11:48:58 pm »

My wife and I are flying to Croatia on Monday for vacation.  We will be in Split for 9 days and have a rental car.  Anybody have any must see/must photograph recommendations?  Thanks in advance.

Dubrovnik, south of Split, comes to mind and across the border in Montenegro, Kotor Bay is pretty neat. Away from the coast not to far are a lot of neat little villages off the beaten path and timeless in quality.

Enjoy your trip!

I realize that I'm probably replying too late to this but anyone going to Croatia should not miss seeing Plitvice national park. It's a truly amazing wonderland of endless waterfalls and boardwalks unlike anything that I've ever seen. I was only able to spend a half day there in the rain on my trip but would love to have had longer there. Here's a link to my Croatia slideshow. (It's flash so won't work on iPads). http://www.msphoto.ca/Croatia_slideshow.html

We just returned yesterday.  We did not go to Plitvice due to having too many places to visit and not enough days.  We did go to Krka National Park, which is very similar to Plitvice from what I have read.  Very beautiful, but way too many people which took away some of the enjoyment.  I would like to return either before the summer crowds or after.  Old town Split was very nice, the palace there is a must see. Once I go through all of my images and upload my picks to Flickr, I will try to remember to place a link in this thread.  I have gps coordinates in the images.
