This is flagweed sitting atop duckweed at a botanical garden. getting the correct exposure on this was quite difficult and I promise everyone, these are the actual colors.

Could be very effective with the right presentation in the right place.  Flush mount on Dibond or hovering in a natural wood floater frame.  Really big.  Upscale contemporary gallery.  Beefy tag. Spotlights adjusted just so.  Would need to have excellent technical quality, could be worth a reshoot with focus stacking if needed.  You will also need a really good back story.

In the right place, it could fly.  Seriously.  The glorious, monochromatic chartreuseness has a certain bleeding edge resonance to it, that struck me immediately.  Just a couple days ago I saw some $5K pieces in the same vein, but nowhere near this good.  Each piece was presented isolated and lonely on its own 30 foot wide stretch of wall, and looking unbearably profound because of it.  I took notes.

But probably wouldn't do well at low or mid range galleries.  Selling stuff like this is psychological warfare.

I think increasing the blacks would help this image quite a bit, along with a slight contrast bump.

Black point has been set quite correctly and I am afraid that by doing either more blacks or increasing the contrast would tend to have the colors lose a certain "blend" quality they currently are exhibiting. If anything, I might be tempted to increase the intensity of the magentas in the stems but have to take a long look at that. Thank you for your comment as it always helps to have another opinion.

Chris, I initally thought as Walt did to bump up the contrast a little and increase the blacks... but had misgivings about it affecting the 'feel' of the image; which now as I see the ammended version which Walt has supplied, I realise my concerns were correct..and that in my opinion the 'feel' of the image has been affected, and it has moved from an 'art piece'.. to more of an actual reperesentation of the pond plants.

When it doesn't have so much contrast; and not so much black....for me the image is about shape and texture and colour. When there is a more defined leaf and stem as revealed through increasing contrast and blacks... it for me becomes more of an ecological documentation.

Thanks Chris
