Late afternoon reflected light, bouncing up from the roofing, caught my eye.

This is totally off topic, but when I looked at the top image I saw the front grille of a car, complete with headlights and hood ornament.  Nicely done, BTW.

I like these. But I am confused. Is the sky also in shade? I would expect it to be much brighter. I guess you have darkened everything? Just wondering.

In working with conversions to monochrome such as these, I often will lower the luminance value of the "blue" skies as a matter of personal expression.  Here's another, less abstract application, example:

I agree, making the blue sky darker while converting to BW adds a lot to the image.
Beautifully done, especially the second image.
