The First Photograph posted on the Web
« on: July 10, 2012, 02:40:36 pm »

Here is an interesting article about the first photograph posted on the internet back in 1991.  It was modified in Photoshop version 1....you can view the before and after in the article.  I wonder how many have been posted since? http://motherboard.vice.com/2012/7/10/crossdressing-compression-and-colliders-the-first-photo-on-the-web

Looking at this had me wondering how many others remember using UUEncode and UUDecode to send images and other binary stuff... pre-web that is.

Remember 'back in the day' when images were 'posted' in the mail... postcards. :-)

It still exists, Mike :-)

UUCP connections were great - that little bit of wizardry was still required and communications weren't quite so instant.

When the greatest graphical tool on the internet was Gopher ;-)

Ah, the Good Old Days. I still remember programming in Assembler for the DEC PDP-1 computer. Not even FORTRAN available yet. Graphics? What's that?

Hah - that predates me by a long way!  I learned Z-80 Assembler in '81 (and have long since forgotten it).
