GIF file won't appear when "Synchronize Folder..."

I wanted to bring in a GIF photo I got from the internet.. It won't appear when I synch that folder.  Why would that be?  File corruption or the file name?  It opens ok in PS.

Attached is the photo file..

Lightroom only supports a limited range of file types, and gif isn't one of them.

I have that same image file for using a deliberate moire technique for camera autofocus micro-adjustment. I just converted the GIF to a TIFF and it's now available in LR.
