uneven printing from z3100
« on: June 17, 2012, 09:34:23 am »

Tried to print some posters on my z3100, at the bottom of the poster is a 2in. strip of solid colour. There is a very noticeable darker strip app. 1in. along the bottom edge then the print gets much lighter. the same thing shows up on other prints, not quite as noticeable, but still there. One print is OK, the next one varies from top to bottom, usually dark to light. Specifically what controls the way the printer lays down the ink on a piece of paper? The printer was totally consistent for several years, all of a sudden it started doing this. Nozzle check and test print are all ok, it will not create new profiles. Even if the profile is not right it should still make a print evenly. Peter

Might be time for a manual head cleaning then.

I had to replace 3 print heads when I saw a test pattern print had black ink in the red channel -. Cured it. Not as bad as your issues but it might pay to check the age of the heads. I also had the issue of not creating profiles-  on matt papers. Now the printer has just fatally failed so I decided to buy a Z3200. My 3100 was 5 1/2 years old. How old is yours?

The printer is 5 years old, I only use it for 6 months at a time, leave it plugged in and turned on the other half of the year. Worked perfectly until now, Peter
