No question that this is both a gorgeous and provocative image.

My initial reaction was that the barely visible figure inside was a distraction from its classic simplicity.  I wondered if it might benefit from cloning out.  It seems that others disagree, thinking that the interior figure is an essential part of the image.

I still don't know.  Did that thought ever enter your head, Russ?

I thought about it, Peter. Right off the camera the church interior is almost too dark to read. I had a choice of either lowering the tone or raising it a bit. I opted for the raise so that the interior would be vaguely visible. I think it was the right choice. But as Tony and others have pointed out, interpretation is always personal, and there's always room for different opinions.
