Problem with ICC profiles in the Print Module
« on: May 23, 2012, 05:26:48 am »

I was one of the many having problems with LR4 and realised that it was probably time to bite the bullet and upgrade my system, which I have now done. I'm absolutely delighted with the way Lightroom is now responding, i.e. as smooth as a baby's posterior  :). However, having reinstalled LR, when I go to print, under Colour Management and change from Managed by Printer to Other, LR hangs and I'm forced to reboot the system. It seems that Lightroom is not seeing the profiles and is waiting for me to make a choice I cannot make. The printer profiles appear to be where they should be in Windows and work perfectly well in Elements 9. I've searched everywhere to see if anyone else has had this problem but to no avail. Any ideas?

Sounds like a problematic install. Have you uninstalled it and re-installed it?

Not as yet, but it looks as though I may have to. I'll hang on a bit to see if anyone has any other ideas. Thanks for replying.

They are in C:/Windows/system 32/spool/drivers/color, right?

Just groping around - do you have a default printer set in Windows?
Maybe if there is no printer installed, or no default printer, Lr goes out to look and never comes home?

Pete was right. It took a couple of re-installs to clear the problem. Thanks all  :)
