Very good noise reduction using Camera RAW 6
« on: May 22, 2012, 07:06:20 pm »

The attached photos were taken with a small "pocket camera" boasting 14 megapixels. Unfortunately, many of the images have some noise. Using Camera RAW Luminance 43, Luminance Detail 50, Color 47 and Color Detail 50 I was able to reduce noise. I sharpened these images twice, once in Camera RAW and again using Photoshop Unsharp Mask. I used 16-bit ProPhoto but saved as sRGB.

Good to see someone actually LOOKED at the photograph. Well, my pocket camera, as I call it, was not identified in the camera selection for CR and my efforts to remove the magenta fringing were unsuccessful. Perhaps because I didn't really put effort into it. I could have brought it into Photoshop and selected and color adjusted the fringe but one should leave something for the sake of discussion. In fact, I don't know the best way to deal with it in this case. Thanks!

ACR 7.1 (when it ships, otherwise ACR 7.1 RC at labs.adobe.com).

ACR 7.1 uploaded this morning and used immediately for color fringing. Seems to be an excellent and easy to use tool. Log in > see photo attached as compared with previous version.

If you zoom in on a small area, you can then get a good look at how the moves effected the noise!
