Hi all,
I moved over to Lightroom for their better rendering of my D700 files( long story).

Now that I need to print I find they are coming out Darker and saturated??
I tried printing in photoshop same problem.
Then I brought the file into Aperture, voila perfect prints!?

I've tried removing the epson drivers and re installing both the epson file and via the apple software update.
I've tried going back to older versions of the Epson driver
Ive tried printing from my snow leopard partition same thing.

The LightRoom print dialog

The Aperture dialog

And the actual print dialog has the color adjustment selection greyed out.

Am I missing anything before I reinstall a fresh system and software?

Mac osx lion 10.74, Epson 3800, Colormunki calibrated monitor and profiled paper/printer.

Thanks for your help in advance.

The dark image looks like what I’d expect to see if you selected No Color Adjustment in the driver but didn’t select a profile. For grin’s, in Photoshop, open the doc. Set up the soft proof with the profile and click on the Preserve RGB Numbers check box. Does it match? Be useful to see the driver settings (Color Matching and Printer Settings) in LR/Photoshop.

using an old version of the driver right now

LightRoom 4, Photoshop6 trial, Aperture 3.

The weird thing is that in Aperture It works perfectly. that's the problem.

"Set up the soft proof with the profile and click on the Preserve RGB Numbers check box. Does it match?"
There is only a slight difference in some of the colors not even enough to warrant a second look.

Can you try another profile, something in the ball park if possible. Just for grins. Also, like to see a screen capture for the driver’s Color Matching.

I'll get to that later, but what about the fact that Aperture has no problems producing prints that match the monitor?
BTW that profile is a V2 profile.

I have had problems on occasion with my Canon iPF 6100 when printing through Photoshop that were similar to what you are getting.
I narrowed it down to a duplication of profile from both the Photoshop and the printer driver. Even though the printer driver was showing
that it was allowing Photoshop to manage the profile, it in fact was doing so as well.
The solution for me was to go through the printer selection drop down and toggle to a different printer driver. Just by doing this it
released the driver for the iPF 6100 and in turn cleared the settings. I then went back and selected the iPF 6100 printer and printed a nice
match to the screen image.
I would make sure that you toggle though the printer selection in any drop down that allows this, both in your photo software as well as the
printer driver.

Well i've tracked it down to the profile. specifically the profiles made with Color Munki and their interaction with Lightroom/Photoshop.
I made a new profile with the Color Munki and prints still came out darker. And yes I made Version2 profiles not Version4.

However when I used the generic enhanced matte paper profile from epson the print was almost perfect.
Also canned profiles form Moab work perfectly with their papers(of course) so it seems to be something with the way Xrite Color Munki profiles and Adobes print engine react.

Go figure.

Hi.   I know you keep talking about V2 and Version 4 profiles.

I had similar problems everything worked with aperture but not the adobe products.  I surfed the net found other profiles for testing and some worked.  They all had one thing in common...

ICC profiles 2.0    worked                      while all the profiles that were 2.4 did not.

really weird too  all the 2.0 were colorvision/datacolor   all the others I will not mention the company.....
I too use a 3800 printer     Adobe products work, aperture works and have tried trial Lightroom4 it all  works  with  ICC 2.0 profiles.

there is an issue for some users ???  with older epson printer software and adobe that popped up when apple changed the colorsync flow in snow leopard...

Your problem may be different as all my issues were found in snow leopard.  I have tested some 2.4 profiles with Lion and I still have some problems.

In the meantime I am happy DataColor printer profile user.....

interesting that you should mention that.
I just opened up my new profiles and one that worked.
The one that worked was a 2.1.0 normal quality version and mine are 2.0.0 High quality?????

This one works

The differences besides the date and creator are the version #s and the preferred CMM.

Hi:   Back again

When I had my problems the Adobe support team really worked with me and did admit 3 years ago that they had a problem with OSX, Drivers etc.

They ended up with double profiling.  What printer driver are you using?

One test you could do is to run a sample print thru both photoshop and lightroom with your profiles but turn off colour management by adobe  products for printing and letting the printer do it.  This should help identifying the cause of your problems.

Quote.    3 years ago   I have now heard back from engineering and the. It would appear that this is an issue with he printer driver not doing what it claims to be doing - even though printer driver claims colour management is turned off, it is still colour managing the print. The result is that if you set the program  to colour manage, it will be double colour managed. The team are aware of this issue and are working with Apple and the printer manufacturers to get this to work correctly.

In the meantime, the only workaround is to switch off colour management in Photoshop and let the printer handle the colour management.

Thank you, but I've already narrowed the problem between the profiling system Color Munki and Adobe products with Mac osx lion.

Take a look at this thread.  It may help.
