I love it, the white background is perfect. Simplicity rules!

Can we combine this thread with the "automatic artistic composition" thread and see the results ?  ;D

Very nice framing.

As others have noted, there is much to love here!

The tonal placement it not quite to my liking. I wish the petals were a hair more separated from the background, they look slightly blown out on my monitor. In fact maybe what I want is essentially the same tone to the petals, but a little more texture in them. I'd also like the stems a little darker. In fact, the darker the better. Since they're already quite grey, it appears that you like the contrast between the light and the dark, and I say, BANG on that theme!

Lastly, I do like the composition, it's an effective use of negative space. I do find the stems leading my eye away from the visual center as much as they lead to it. I'm not sure how to fix that, but it feels like some minor adjustments there would give a stronger visual flow in the right direction. That's a pretty minor quibble, though.

I had a few thoughts about this image after my initial look and was thinking about how to express them, then I looked at it again and decided to 'simply' agree with Francois!  ;D

While I agree with the "simplicity rules" remark, I do find myself focussing on the area just below the flower buds, which I assume is not the point-of-interest. I am wondering whether this may be a result of the perspective. It now is as if we are looking upward and viewing the flowers from slightly below. I think this might work better if it could be shot so the perspective on the flowers is slightly from above. This emphasizes the flowers in favor of the stems, and the light contrast between the former and the "negative" space is where the interest is.

Since we are boldly applying copious amounts of negative space, would it an option to place the flowers to the lower left? Would automatically change the perspective...

Many thanks to you all.
I've have read carefully your useful and interesting opinions.
Although that is a very simple subject, there are many many ways to represent it.

I too like the simplicity. I think I'd like the image more without the darkened area (a shadow?) stretching horizontally at the lower centre/right, though. I wonder why it's there.

Hi Jeremy.
Yes, it is a shadow.
I'll try to remove it using Capture One.

Simple and very effective, in my humble opinion; I like how you managed to get nice tones, and maintain the texture in the petals.
