Sinar p2, 54H, sinaron lenses - Market value?
« on: May 14, 2012, 07:01:57 pm »

Hi there,
I´m buying a complete studio including sinar equipment and I have not decided yet if I would keep the camera and start working with LF or just sell and go back to D-SLR.

I would really like to know the market value of the equipment and if there is any interest of buying the stuff.

Sinar p2
Sinar 54H back, comes with adapter to work with Hasselblad bodies
Sinarcam2
Sinaron digital 45 1:4,5 DB
Sinaron digital 80 1:4.0 DB
Sinaron digital 120 1:5,6 macro DB
Sinaron digital 150 1:5,6 DB

This is my first topic here :) Hopefully not the last. I´m very excited to try the Sinar and see if its the kind of camera I would work with in the future! By now it feels a bit expensive to keep :(

Cheers from Sweden!

Great system. The SinarCam may no longer be supported. The system is capable of delivering very clean files. Whether you keep it or not depends on the kind of work you can bill out with it. It is a serious set up that requires a learning curve.

Thanks for answer!
In which way the sinarcam is not supported? Is there any other shutters?

I will start working with the camera to see how it feels. At my first try I got a feeling that everything goes so slowly (tethered shooting, un-updated sinar software, old mac)

Do you have any estimation about the value?

The normal sales value for the kit will be about 8.000 $ if the back is firevire. If it is a fiberoptic connection,
the value is maximum 6.000, and it will be very hard to sell.

I think its the firewire version. There is only one connection in the side..
Im not home these days but it will be really fun to try the camera out. I´m mostly curious about about the difference in quality of single shot between the 54H and the Canon 5d mk2!

there is no problem with support for the sinarcam 2 although not cheap to repair
however they do seem to go on for amazing years without faults
there is an slight issue with the psu which needs an rs232 control connection and the usb -rs232 adaptor might need updating to fit with lion osx ($10)
you can always trade in for conversion to eshutter lens as an alternative.
make sure you fit a breaker cable (552.11.164) with firewire camerabacks and sinarcam2 systems
