Rainy spring

Very nice damp green with an interesting light. I was planning to go out again with a real setup today but the sun is out now, I'll see if it makes it better or not.

The first one has some snap to it, I like the dark black accents on the birch trees, I think they give some real visual drama. The composition is fairly pleasing, and you get a sense of an overgrown path leading away. Paths are good symbols to have in photos.

The second one is really an abstract to my eye, and a bit flat. It feels like something that might be a better painting, to me? Not my cup of tea, but that's taste for you. It could be some lovely decor, with the right colors in the room, I think but it's not a photograph I am going to look at more than once.

The last two seem to be merely scenes. Inoffensive, pleasant to the eye, but without much visual drama or meaning, and not abstract enough to be anything but representational. They probably mean a lot more to YOU than to random jokers like me on the internets, since you were there and you probably have some associations with the places we're looking at in these two.

I like both the first and second. I agree that the 3rd and 4th are pretty but not exceptional.

Like the color on the plants in #2. Have you ever thought about getting down low and shooting through the apricot-colored plants? I did that with some weeds I found and wound up with an image that looked like the chiffon scarves of the 50's.

Had some thoughts but the background wasn't the greatest and S100 is not necessarily known for shallow depth of field.

When I say "shoot through the apricot," I mean to literally poke the lens into the apricot, not shoot past it.

I might add that my go to lens is a 100mm macro with good DOF.
