D800 Envy
« on: April 27, 2012, 03:47:09 pm »

Hey, where is my D800 or D800e.  Ordered months ago and still no camera.  Drooling with all of these reports and still no camera.  Very, very sad, JazzFest this weekend and would love to have had it there.

I'm wishing everything I'm shooting now was shot in 36MP. All I have the the overpriced D800 battery grip waiting for a body :-[

the D800 waiting line remains long and most likely will for a few months,,

I'm there for an 800E with a vacation in June, even though I ordered immediately, I'm hoping but doubtful if it will be in my hands when I board the plane,,

And it just got worse. Got a call from the rep yesterday and Nikon is having issues getting batteries.

A friend of mine just emailed me a cellphone pix of his new D800 sitting on the seat of his car shot in the parking lot of the camera store.  : )  Excited?  Nooooo.

Ordered, or should I say pre-ordered, D800E. Ordered L-bracket from RSS. Received L-bracket from RSS. Called about D800E. Was told maybe in July, maybe in November!! Canceled pre-order for D800E. Returned L-bracket to RSS.

Pre-ordered 800E from B&H, ordered RRS l Bracket, sent 3 Leica's to Leitax for Nikon adapters.
Have RRS l bracket, have 3 Leica's with Nikon adapters get weekly email from B&H 800E is still backordered
Worth the wait!

When my RRS L-bracket arrived in the mail my mom was in the room and I asked her what was missing from this scene? Got a curious look from her... hint: my D800E ::)

I somewhat wish I hadn't ordered from B&H with their NPS getting to cut in line policy. Amazon or another vendor that doesn't participate in that program will get my $ next time.

An oft told story....ordered D800E day of announcement from Amazon. Ordered RRS l bracket when announced. Received email from Amazon telling me they had no clue. Received l bracket from RRS. Received another email from Amazon; still clueless.

Stopped at local camera shop while in town this morning. Was told he's received 12 D800's since release and waiting list is now down to 10 people.
Waiting list for D800E?  Sure, I've got one but nobody's on it. 1 swipe of my Visa later, deposit paid and my name is the one and only name on that D800E waiting list.  Amazon order cancelled.

Which now means Amazon will receive a big shipment Monday.

Ordered D800 day it was announced.
Called April 10th to change order to D800E.
Was told it would add months to my expected delivery date.
Called my camera store Monday of this week to order a tripod.
When ending the conversation with the store owner I asked how many months do you really think it will take to get my camera.
Expecting to hear 6 or more.
Instead he says Dan do you want one today?
My response,of course I do.
The guy that was supposed to get this one was having a hard time making up his mind between the straight D800 and the E. he had both on order.
Got Allen at exactly the right time and received the camera Tuesday morning.
Many thanks.

Just a note.
My brick and mortar store is Allen's camera in Levittown,Pa.
Family owned and run it is by far one of the best here in the northeast.
I purchase most all my equipment and supplies for my photography and printmaking studio from Allen.
Give them a try.

I've pre-ordered one. That is, I've not ordered one yet, so I'm in a state of pre-order with respect to a D800. I'm probably going to be in a pre-order state for some time, due to lack of funds.

In the meantime, I will continue to rail against abuses of the English language [/sortofrant]

You do realise that this means we must hate you. Until such time as we've all managed to afford one too.

Sorry Bill, just got my d800 today. Ordered it february 7th.
According to Nikon demand is unprecedented and the jubilant reviews are only firing up the feeding frenzy. Michael even appeared briefly on dpreview. Unreal what is going on.
I hope Nikon steps up a notch and you guys and girls will receive your d800/e's any time soon.

Cancelled my pre-order with B&H placed March 3rd 2 days ago.

Walked into Jiffy Photo (my local local store here in Florida) on Friday. Picking up my D800e on Tuesday.

Do not get me wrong, B&H have been good to me and I've bought $000's from B&H over the years but I will now be spreading the love locally.

Struck out lucky I guess.
