It truly is a magical shot (with all of Jay Maisel's Light, Gesture & Colour).
This was after dusk in the deep shadow of a presbytery hallway next to a church on Good Friday night. I was shooting outside of the entrance in a courtyard in slightly better light. I saw the girls go in with their mother and they literally disappeared into the dark. I don't know how Michael saw this - let alone how the camera was able to expose it.
